13 Jul 2009 08:06:59 am -
Isle of Man Kiosk
As seen in our short documentary on the home page, the
reasons that our customers ask for our services are
so divers and this trip is no exception!
The
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Skipper, Mr Dermot
O'Toole, purchased from (Manx) BT the kiosk from his
childhood and we were privileged to be asked to restore
it complete with Jubilee interior and return it to the
isle to take up its proud place in Dermot's garden.
As
an aside, we are helping the Glucestershire Warwickshire
Railway restore a kiosk for their station.
More
details to follow shortly.

Mar 2008 01:22:10 pm - Ideal Home Exhibition,
Earls Court
At
the Ideal Home Show
Having been privileged to be asked to restore and install
a kiosk for the 2008 IDH Exhibition by BT Heritage, on
behalf of the show organisers and Johnstone Events, imagine
how pleased we were to be able to deliver and install
a K6 with Jubilee interior to the Exhibition halls last
Sunday, ready for the show opening earlier today.
We hope that it brings pleasant memories
to those *young* enough to remember the "jubilee"
and similarly will enlighten the *even younger * visitors
as to how people comunicated, all those years ago.
Thank you to all concerned for the privilege
of providing this kiosk.

Jan 2007 11:45:27 am - Amanda Holdens Box ( A
Pressie for Chris)
Imagine our surprise and exitement, when not only were
we asked to provide a kiosk for amanda to give to her
fiance, Chris for Christmas, but were challenged with
turning it into a functional office for him. That was
when the "can do" philosophy that we all have
here at English Phone boxes, had to be firmly applied.
Imagine then our further head scratching, when asked if
we could power it up with Solar panels. Game on!!!.
Our engineer Kev, (he"s the grisly adams in the photo),set
about brainstorming the metal work.
Our good freind Owen, from Ambisol, here in Gloucester,
a genius who gets his spare time kicks, playing with LED"s,
set about applying his "light refraction through
acrylic" principles to lighting the office.
Certainly Amanda and Chris were suitably
pleased. Pleased enough to insist on spending an hour
with me and the lads at our Hotel, the most hospitable
King William 1V, at Sedgeford.

Ill
let you decide wether their efforts were successful.
Check out the pics.

Apr 2006 06:05:24 pm - Butterfly Garden Charity
Day
I'd like to expressmy gratitude to all the people who
contributed both financially and in terms of their time.
Chris Evans of the Butterfly Project (helping local disabled
children) was delighted to receive over £2000 from
the local community to provide wheelchair access to the
garden and expand the garden to allow increased involvement.
Here's a link to their site :

The
Red telephone box is first lovingly restored and prepared
for the journey to Holland from the UK.
Next...off
to Holland.
Once
delivered, the telephone box is inspected and carefully
installed in the garden as Bert looks on.
When
installation is complete, it's back to the UK.
